Here's the Bigma extended out to its full 500mm. I also have a Red-Dot sight on the flash hot shoe to aid in tracking flying birds or other moving subjects.

The Bigma gets a nice portrait of a female Allen's with a pleasing background bokeh.

At ISO 800 and the minimum aperture of f6.7 at 420mm, the background is clean and the shallow DOF highlights this Anna's.

I caught this Dove in the act of gathering a branch for nest material at the Ocean Trails golf course, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, April 21 2007.
There are peacocks all over the Palos Verdes Peninsula, remnants of a wealthy person's menagerie that somehow got loose.
Anna's at the Purple Bottlebrush, ISO 800 @ 270mm, also at the South Coast Garden.
Mockingbird, and an example of the interesting background bokeh that is one of the hallmarks of the Sigma 50-500mm.
I believe this to be an Oriole, though I'm not sure what type, once again at the South Coast Garden.
