After all those bright autumnal colors, it was a little relieving to my eyes to return to the subdued tones of Owens Valley. This is the area west of Tinnemaha Campground looking north to the distant White Mountains. The late-afternoon sky is just as mesmerizing, if not more so, than the groundscape.
Here's the scene at North Lake looking toward Piute Crags and the trail over Piute Pass. The color had peaked here; North Lake is about 1,000 feet higher than Lake Sabrina. But the remaining colors -- and reflective water -- were pure "eye candy" .
